About this tracker
The AI Frontier Coverage Index is a dated, recurring tracker of AI news coverage across seven subfields — labs, research, agents, creative AI, policy, briefings and applied practice, counted from the items our aggregation pipeline captured in the stated window. Every figure on this page is a direct COUNT over rows in our own aggregation database — nothing is estimated, modeled or extrapolated. Volumes are grouped by ISO week of capture time (when an item entered our pipeline), i.e. all figures are "as aggregated by our pipeline". Honest limitations: the sample is our pipeline's capture, not an exhaustive census of AI news; brief pipeline outages can drop items, so treat every figure as a ≥ floor value. This is the first edition — period-over-period deltas start next edition (our corpus for this topic begins 2026-06-11). Each subfield in this index maps to a section of this site, so the index doubles as an honest coverage map of where our own editorial attention goes. Last reviewed 2026-07-10.
